Sound Family Law Advice on Custody/Parental Responsibility,  Child Visitation/Parenting Time, and Parental Relocation

In October of 2008, the law in Florida changed regarding children, custody and visitation. Child custody in Florida is now referred to as "parental responsibility," and visitation is now referred to as "parenting time." Your parenting time with your children must now be specifically addressed in a written document called a "Parenting Plan." The terms of the Parenting Plan can either be agreed to by the parties and submitted to the court for approval or, alternatively, you can present your case to the court at trial and the court will order you and your spouse to abide by a court-determined Parenting Plan. We will help you draft and prepare a Parenting Plan that is right for you and your children. If an agreement between you and the other parent cannot be reached, we will present your case to the court at trial and fight to ensure that your child's best interests are promoted.

Parenting Time can be negotiated to allow for work and business travel obligations. We use our mediation and parent coordination legal services to formulate a visitation/parenting time schedule that fits your needs.

When parental relocation becomes an issue, due to remarriage or a business-related move, our law firm helps you overcome this major obstacle. We can request a modification of your prior court order so that both parents can continue to enjoy roles in their child's life.

At the law offices of Audrey A. Jefferis, we always respond with honest answers to your questions and realistic assessments of your parenting goals. Contact us today by phone or e-mail to arrange an initial consultation.
